A Traveller's Legacy

Posted on Dec 30th, 2007 by Court : Blissfully Confused Court
If this small, discreet rock
could match the majesty of the life that lie beneath,
Of the cliffs at the edge of the world would it talk,
That only the Shade has sunk its teeth.

The trail has passed from north to south
Silently, humanity barely aware of his walk,
Every corner of the map passed through his mouth
and watched the colours of the evening fade to black.

Yet the chronicles of such a tale untold
lie barely covered by this worn, sea tossed stone,
contained by this obscure, earthly fold.

How can such exuberance unshown,
Cultivated through a matter of years,
be cast off? A story truly our own.

Where'd your haircut come from?

Posted on Dec 17th, 2007 by Court : Blissfully Confused Court
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for December 17, 2007:

Well, one day I got bored and decided to chop off my dreads. Unwilling to pay the ludicrous amount of $20 for actually getting rid of hair, I decided that I would cut it myself. After spending about an hour trying to comb those nasty things that had a 2 year reign of 'dread' (I know, it's bad, live with it) on my scalp, I began feverously chopping at my head with a pair of barber scissors. An hour and a half later, I had a ridiculous bob/ emo sweep that was almost Indie enough to pull off as stylish, but alas, I decided to take the conservative root and give it another cut. Another hour or so later, I had a decent hair cut, but when the hair dried it looked terrible. So I cut it again, and again, until finally I decided on  the style I have now aquired. Due to the odd lengths at which the dreads were chopped at, I was left with quite a stylish scraggle in the spots easily noticed by the mirror, but round back, due to my blind hacking away, I have an odd uneven, layered, beastly creature that dominates the back of my head. Thus is the landscape of my scalp, and I have just wasted way too much time describing it. I have physics homework.

Rise for the Moment

Posted on Dec 2nd, 2007 by Court : Blissfully Confused Court
Trip-Trap-Tripping across a twofold universe of fear, and inadequacy, and sometimes, fearing a universe of inadequacy.

"See."

Never touch, taste, smell, breathe, feel!

                                                                       Shhh....

                                                                                     Listen.

'Cause you'll never here that moment again.

You think you're fast?

Even the quickest hand can't catch the sparrow of your own existence.

Because living in the pretense that the pasttense makes more sense than a moment to moment existence falls short of any happiness. Hence, the justification of making a living that's not living or making is not worth the time of day that leaves it spewing anxiety and false promises to oneself, because that day, was priceless.

And so is yesterday.

And so is tomorrow.

And, most of all, so is today. Because, you may not see it, but today, we are forever young.

Right now, we are immortal.

And no one can steal that from us. No boss, spouse, cop or jailguard can take this moment away. It's ours to keep.

But hold tight,
because there's more to come. Hold tight,
because you may not like all of what's coming. Hold tight,
because life's an adventure, and as it's hero, you must rise for the moment, and live your best.

Hell, that's all we've ever asked.

Choose Beauty! via The Rime of the Ancient Mariner

Posted on Nov 26th, 2007 by Court : Blissfully Confused Court
I just wanted to make a quick reference the “Rime of the Ancient Mariner” by Samuel T. Colridge.

You know, “Water, Water, everywhere, nor any a drop to drink.”

Yea, that one.

Well, I just read it in Literature Class, and I would recommend it to anyone, it only takes about a half hour to read. Anyway, There's a part where the Ancient Mariner is one a boat with all his dead shipmates, cursed to Live In Death, dying from thirst, unable to sleep, but to sit on the ship and stare at the sea of “slimy things” on which the boat floats.

Beyond the shadow of the ship
I watched the water snakes:
They moved in tracks of shining white,
And when they reared, the elfish light
Fell off in hoary flakes.

Within the shadow of the ship
I watched their rich attire:
Blue, Glossy green, and velvet black,
They coiled and swam; and every track
Was a flash of golden fire.

Oh happy living things! no tongue
Their beauty might declare:
A spring of love gushed from my heart,
And I blessed them unaware:
Sure my kind saint took pity on me,
And I blessed them unaware

After he unknowingly blesses the horrible serpents for their beauty, he falls asleep, and when he wakes, it's raining heavily and he gets to drink as much water as he wants. The bodies of his shipmates are inhabited by angels, which help him rig the boat, and when they're done, they leave the bodies, and send the boat flying towards the mariner's homeland, all because he chose to find the beauty in the situation. Coleridge, in a later edition of the poem, added a side note refering to the snakes as "God's Creatures".

No matter how terrible the situation is, you always have the choice to see the horrifying aspect of it, and the beautiful. Life is always asking us, Are you happy now? Good! And eventually you're going to have to work hard to choose to be happy, and some are born in a position where it's hard to be happy, but there's always the choice. So choose to be happy, and, if you've read the poem, never, ever, by any circumstances, shoot a freaking Albatross!

Above The Skyline

Posted on Nov 25th, 2007 by Court : Blissfully Confused Court

From a high point above the city skyline, you can see the restlessness below, as each light is flicked on and off, you can feel the sheets rustle as they toss and turn, trying to force themselves into the cave of their own minds. While each one fades off, their dreams amalgamate into their shared nightmare. They aimlessly walk around in the darkness, one half asleep, the other half dead, the only difference is that, no matter how hard you shake the dead, they will never wake up.

They all assume that they're alone and have no idea where they're going, but they can't stop their walking, because, Who knows where they may be! Actually, they're only within a few feet of each other, and occasionally they bump into each other, and they run, because, Who knows who it might be?

The beautiful thing is, sometimes someone will realize his eyes are closed, and opens them to realize that the world is more amazing than he could have possibly imagined. He'll run shouting, "Open your eyes! It is truly beautiful!", which will meet a chorus of, "Our eyes are open, it's just too dark to see!"

The next night, I'll meet him above the skyline and say "Glad you could make it. There's not a lot of us up here, but we keep good company. So use that new found sight and paint a picture in the sky, make a house out of your words, and most of all, stare out at that horizon that your feet are marching towards."

The Empty Page

Posted on Aug 24th, 2007 by Court : Blissfully Confused Court
What Next?

We live for an empty page,
yet it is our greatest fear.

The page has the capacity to hold brilliance,
and we're afraid to dissapoint.

Our Passion
          Potential
             Prosperity all rely on
are useless against an empty page.

But all great things start empty.

Just fill them up!

But never insult them by stopping and regretting halfway through.

Truth

Posted on Jul 30th, 2007 by Court : Blissfully Confused Court
Extra! Extra!

It is very difficult to determine what is true. Take the News. We have numerous stations, with uncountable amounts of journalists, all of whom are telling their side of a story, which is then modified for what their editor wants, and then geared towards a specific audience, and used to persuade them to think a certain way! After all that, what we get out doesn't even remotely resemble what was put in.

So, where do we look for truth? We can't find it in our news papers, our radios, and most certainly not our TV's. One could look to the Internet, but you'll then be bombarded with thousands of different views and opinions and will easily become disoriented. So again, where is our truth? Or better yet, what is truth?

I think the best answer to both those questions comes from Ralph Waldo Emerson.

"Trust Thyself: Every heart vibrates to that iron string."

Like all things maluable, Truth is subjective. So as long as you believe it yourself, then it is the Truth. No matter what Fox or ABC says, you know the truth because it's your life, Right?

Of course, some will ask "Well, if two people believe entirely different things, then they can't both be true!". And it would most certainly seem so. But, when people are fully informed, and they still differ, then either A) At least one of them is Lying to themselves, or better yet B) They are both right, and the truth is beautifully multifaceted! Either way, the Truth is there.

So, whatever you hear or see, just remember to "Trust Thyself".

Do you believe in God?

Posted on Jul 28th, 2007 by Court : Blissfully Confused Court
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for July 28, 2007:

The Eye of God

For me, God isn't a him or a her, God is an it, an all, an everything. Let me explain:

There's An Atom, that's part of a molecule
    A Molecule, that's part of a cell
A Cell, that's part of an organ
An Organ, that's part of a system
    A System, that's part of a body
    A Body, that's part of a city
    A City, that's part of a country
    A Country, that's part of a continent
    A Continent, that's part of a planet
A Planet, that's part of a solar system
A  Solar System, that's part of a galaxy
    A Galaxy, that's part of a universe
A Universe, that's part of God
And God is part of everything else

God is just the essence of which everything is made of. God is the building block of which the universe builds itself, but is the universe aswell. When something is created it's just the twisting of God into that shape. So, God in itself is not a singular conciousness as some tend to think it is. But it's the combination of the thousands of counciousnesses, and those councioussnesses twist God into what we see as the physical universe.

God does not control us, in fact, God is our tool, our tool for life. God is used to form everything around us in our physical universe, but is also the Soul that we use for our existence. God is what gives us thoughts, and gives us voices. God is Light, and lack there of. God helps the Trees grow, and the birds fly. God provides us with purpose and destiny.

Every Religion seems to have their own version of God, and none of them are wrong, because they are all essentially the same, just being pointed to from different hands. I personally opt for the term God, because in the English language, and much of Western Civilization, God is the only term that fits. I could use the word Tao, or Brahman, but that wouldn't make much sense for most in the Western World. So I'll stick with God.

But hell, What do I know? I am only a Sixteen year old kid who smokes too much dope and is just going through a phase right?

Peace N Love,

Court
